Club trip to Warhammer World which became a trip to Janco in Barnsley:

By Steven Askew: Tues 30 11 2010.

Unfortunately the trip to Warhammer World had to be cancelled.  However Mark was able to arrange a trip to Janco in Barnsley at very short notice.  Mark, Gareth and I went to Janco Toys in Barnsley on Sunday 28 November 2010.  We all  played games of Warhammer 40 000 with Janco club members, we narrowly came out ahead as Gareth won his game.  The details of the games we played are:

Gareth and Ash, Crimson Fists and Chaos Space Marines, with Pitched Battle and Annihiation.  Gareth won.

Mark and Ash, Dark Angels and Chaos Space Marines, with Pitched Battle and Annihilation.  Draw.

Paul and I, Imperial Guard and Tau, with Pitched Battle and Capture and Control.  this game ended in a Draw.

Paul is one of the fairest players I have met, which made this game and the entire trip more than thoroughly enjoyable.

The club is still intending to organise a trip to Warhammer World in Nottingham, in the new year, if you have any suggestions for a date etc please speak with Dan, Gareth, John (Robinson) or I.  Thank you very much.

Trip to Old Glory World Wargames Show:

By Steven Askew: Sun 10 10 2010.

On Sunday 3 October 2010 Stephen (Hamilton) and I visited Old Glory World Wargames show at Derby Universities campus.  The journey there was very wet and it continued to rain for most of the day easing off just before we returned home.  The show was vast filling most of the main build of the campus, there were countless exhibitors who were demonstrating their games, selling their products etc.  There was an enormous variety of games, models and scenery etc on show making this a thoroughly enjoyable day.

Trip to Warrington Warlords:

By Steven Askew: Thurs 9 9 2010.

On Tuesday 7 September 2010 Dan and I visited Warrington Warlords wargames club in Warrington.  The club meeting was very well attended Warhammer 40 000 was the only game being played on this night, as a two player campaign was starting.  The campaign had been organised by Andy Bate using some of the rules for Planetary Empires, Battle Missions and another clubs campaign information which Andy had found on the web.  Entrants needed to team up with another player with the same army, each contributing 750 points, to enter, Paul and Dan joined forces with their Eldar armines and their game was a draw.  Steven (Norton) and I entered our Tau armies and played Mark and his sons Space Marines.  Steven won the dice role and we chose to be the defenders, a Tau Battle Mission was selected, Fighting Withdraw and several enjoyable game turns followed, which resulted in Steven and I comming first.  After the game ended the result was recorded and experience points added up, I chose additional equipment for my Shas'O.  Dan and I thoroughly enjoyed our games and intend to be at next months club meeting to continue to play in the campaign.  I took several photographs of the variety of scenery available for inspiration, as we are intending to start making scenery for our club.

Trip to R G M B in Chester:

By Steven Askew: Thurs 9 9 2010.

On Tuesday 31 August 2010 Gareth and I visited R G M B wargaming club in Chester.  The club meeting was very well attended, the games being played were Warhammer, Warhammer 40 000, Lord of The Rings, Flames of War and Warmachine.  Gareth and I both fiound opponents to play Warhammer 40 000.

John (Rae) and Gareth, Tyraninds and Crimson Fists, with Dawn of War and Capture & Control, both sides suffered heavy casualties which resulted in a draw at the end of an enjoyable game and an agreement to a rematch.

Luke and I, Death Guard Chaos Space Marines and Tau, with Pitched Battle and Annihilation, My Tau did well at shooting but not a combat, this resulted in Luke winning before his army reached my table edge, which my Tau had stayed close to throughout the game.  I took several photographs of the variety of scenery available for inspiration, as we are intending to start making scenery for our club.

Trip to Warrington Warlords:

By Steven Askew: Wed 4 8 2010.

On Tuesday 3 August 2010 John (Robinson), Dan and I visited Warrington Warlords.  The atmosphere at the club was friendly and easy going, the meeting was well attended and long, stating at 17.00 hours and finishing at 22.00 hours.  After we arrived we talked with the members and organisers before starting to play.  There were a variety of games being played which included: Bllod Bowl, Warhammer, Warhammmer 40 000, Lord Of The Rings, Magic and a game based on Predator.  Dan played Steven, Eldar and Orks, with Spearhead and Annihilation, Dan won.  Paul and I played, Eldar and Tau, with Spearhead and sieze Ground (4 Objectives), although the Tau did well at shooting through out the game, eliminating Paul Commander near the end, Paul came first in an enjoyable game.  Unfortunately John did not get to play.  After post game talks and a tidy up Dan, John and I had a photograph taken with Paul, Greg and Saul from Warrington Warlords (the photograph should be published soon).  John and I decided that we would visit next months club meeting there and then and we all agreed that it had been a thoroughly enjoyable evening.

Trip to R G M B in Chester:

By Steven Askew: Fri 23 7 2010.

On Tuesday 20 July 2010 John (Robinson), Dan and I visited The Royal Guild of Minted Boards games club in Chester.  The weather was wet but the atmosphere at the club was warm at a very well attended club meeting, the games being played were Warmachine, Flames of War, Space Hulk, Battle Fleet Gothic and Warhammer 40 000.  After talking with the members and organisers we all got to play Warhammer 40 000, Dan played Pavel, Eldar and Imperial Guard, with Dan winning after Pavels commander made a heroic last effort to elimnate the Eldar, John (Robinson) played John (Rae), Phoenix Legion Space Marines and Space Marines, John (Rae) won after Johns Phoenix Legion had no end of very bad luck.  Chris (Frazey) and I played a Battle Mission, Chaos Deamons and Tau, in which I came second, partially because the Tau are lost when it comes to close combat they did do quite well at shooting though.  After all our games were over John (Robinson), Dan and I had a Photograph taken with Chris (Fry), Rick and Neil from R G M B, we also had a brief talk about a follow up meeting at their club in the future.  On the way home we agreed that the evening was thoroughly enjoyable and that we would do it again.
